YFood Insight & Innovation Days are the quickest and most effective route for Food & Drink Industry professionals to gain an overview of the latest Food Tech landscape, trends, community and opportunities, as well as insight into how to successfully implement them.

Join us in an exploration of FOOD & WASTE, as we bring together YFood Club members and guests from the Food & Drink Industry, Food Tech innovators, investors and not to mention some of the greatest companies and minds when it comes to tackling the global challenge of FOOD & WASTE. Expect insight alongside a much needed open and collaborative discussion on what’s working, what’s changing and what we need to do next as an industry.

About the theme: We’ll be delving into the landscape, the challenges, the learnings, the latest insights, innovations, tech and opportunities when it comes to FOOD & WASTE.

Without a doubt, as an industry, we’re not efficient or careful enough with our resources. We’re certainly WASTING more than we should be. The good news is that WASTE has been creeping higher and higher up the global agenda, be it through evolving climate regulation, the need to manage margins or a growing awareness of our social responsibility. However, that doesn’t take-away from the fact that we’re still facing a challenging WASTE environment. One filled with perishable goods, inefficient and manual processes, an ever increasing demand for speed, a lack of information and excessive packaging – to mention a few!

Plus the landscape is constantly evolving – as the Simpler Recycling Scheme rolls out in the UK, households will soon separate food waste — but what does that mean for our industry? What will this mean for our Anaerobic Digester capacity? Are we facing a potential organic waste bottleneck?

The good news is that with every challenge comes opportunity. From redistribution, upcycling and circular economies, valorisation, new food and animal feed models— how far away are we from being able to fully scale solutions that keep value flowing and waste out of sight? And what waste streams and solutions make sense?

Or should we also be tackling waste before it exists? Smarter data, AI-driven resource optimisation, shelf-life extension, dynamic pricing — the tools are here. What’s holding us back? What do we need to overcome?

And how do we address the packaging conundrum? Can we solve the challenges around reuse? What drives behaviour change — rewards, gamification, better systems? And how close are we to ditching plastic with next-gen materials?

Not to mention resource waste, energy, carbon and the impact not just on climate but on health. It’s a deep theme to unravel.

The two days will be jam-packed with insight, industry leading talks, case-studies, panel discussions, networking opportunities, connections, lots of yummy Food & Drink – all in a high energy, collaborative and fun way – aka true YFood style!

On the morning of 24th we’ll also be running YFood Link-Up Live for YFood Club members, which is short 1-2-1 meetings in-person with Food & Drink Industry Players, Investors and Food Tech Startups and Scaleups.
