Join EY at Climate Innovation Forum for a roundtable discussion exploring how through transition actions and planning, the insurance sector can play a crucial role in enabling the transition to net zero. This session will focus on how insurers can leverage their underwriting and investment portfolios to accelerate the scaling of transition solutions.
This will include a focus on how transition actions can help to drive an insurer’s growth agenda and also use climate analytics to reduce the cost-base.
Session objectives:
– Explore how firms can use investment portfolios to support transition-aligned products such as structured debt, infrastructure investments and nature-based projects, addressing challenges in portfolio alignment and strategies for improved returns.
– Examine how insurers can focus on underwriting to achieve growth and protect transition solutions, whilst developing robust analytics for pricing to align with net zero goals and business growth when providing coverage for weather-related perils.
– Discuss practical operational decarbonisation strategies for insurers, highlighting easy wins in areas like business travel, despite operational emissions being less significant.
