The Real Price of Blue Hydrogen And Ammonia: Should We Trust the Numbers?
Lacon House, 84 Theobald's Road, WC1X 8NL
About this Event
As momentum builds around blue hydrogen and ammonia as a climate solution, concerns are growing about the reliability of the data used to assess its cost and climate impact. Are current pricing assessments truly comparable, or are inconsistent methodologies and assumptions hiding the full picture? As investment flows into blue hydrogen projects, understanding the real numbers and the risks behind them is more important than ever.
In this joint session hosted by the Green Hydrogen Organisation (GH2) and Argus Media, the panel will explore the methodologies behind blue hydrogen and ammonia pricing, highlight the risks of relying on inconsistent data, and discuss what greater transparency could mean for the future of clean hydrogen markets.
Tim Hard, Senior Vice President of Energy Transition at Argus Media, will outline how Argus approaches ammonia pricing for blue and green ammonia and how it evaluates data quality and market signals.
Jonas Moberg, CEO of GH2, and Joe Williams, Deputy CEO of GH2, will present findings from GH2’s latest report “The Real Price of Blue Hydrogen”, which questions the assumptions behind widely cited cost and emissions estimates.
This session is for anyone shaping or financing the future of truly low carbon hydrogen: policymakers, investors, project developers and energy strategists.

The Green Hydrogen Organisation (GH2), Argus Media
The Green Hydrogen Organisation (GH2) is an international non-profit foundation working to accelerate the production and use of green hydrogen globally. GH2 collaborates with governments, producers and financial institutions to promote key applications such as green fertilisers, shipping fuels and green iron and steel. Founded in 2021, GH2 has established a presence in Geneva, London, Jakarta, Nairobi and Oslo. It serves as the secretariat for the Africa Green Hydrogen Alliance (AGHA), a government-led platform uniting ten African countries to drive regional cooperation on green hydrogen. GH2 is also a founding member of the Global Renewables Alliance (GRA).
Argus Media is an independent provider of price assessments and market intelligence, including in the global low-carbon hydrogen and ammonia sectors. Its analysis supports industry, governments and investors in understanding market developments and informing decision-making in the context of the energy transition.
