The Importance of Tackling Racism in a Climate Crisis
Greenpeace, Canonbury Villas, London N1 2PNAbout this Event
This is a workshop for white people to hear an explanation of Sustaining All Life (SAL) listening tools, and have several paired co-listening sessions during the workshop. The workshop will outline how racism is installed on white people and provide listening tools to help us to undo its impact. We will strengthen our connections with each other and with people of African, Asian and Indigenous heritage. We will look at the intersection between racism and the climate crisis. Facing the reality of racism and climate breakdown brings up many painful feelings. Learning how to listen effectively to each other as we face and talk about how racism has affected us is an important “action” towards freeing our minds and acting more decisively in ending racism in the world.
Sustaining All Life is a global organisation that allies with and supports organisations and individuals working to end the climate crisis. We provide tools that assist people to address emotional barriers to effective climate organising and to uncover and heal from the damage and separation caused by oppression.
