Sustainable Cooling Strategies for an Overheating World: Frontline Stories from the Global South

Picture Gallery, The Foundling Museum, 40 Brunswick Square, London WC1N 1AZ

About this Event

As the world warms, communities everywhere are grappling with rising urban heat and climate extremes. This half-day event, hosted by MEER, focuses on sustainable cooling solutions that require no electricity, and highlights bold new approaches already underway in some of the world’s most climate-vulnerable regions.

We’ll explore the science and promise of zero-energy radiative cooling, examine how engineering and architecture can reshape cities for climate resilience, and feature on-the-ground perspectives from MEER’s Global South projects. The event also includes a critical look at how dominant economic narratives have obscured the true scale and urgency of the climate crisis.

Featured Speakers:
Dr. Ye Tao – Founder and Executive Director, MEER: Innovating passive cooling solutions for a livable planet

Herb Simmens – Cofounder, Healthy Planet Action Coalition: Bridging climate action, health, and equity

Professor Steve Keen – Economist and Author: Challenging the economic frameworks that fuel climate delay

This is a hybrid event, hosted at the Foundling Museum for those attending in-person and streamed online via Zoom. Please select your ticket option for either in-person or online attendance.

A catered reception will follow after the presentations, and attendees will have the opportunity to connect during a dedicated networking session.
