Standing Firm for Climate Action: Ending the Era of Fossil Fuels
Impact Hub London Euston, 1 Triton Square, London NW1 3DS
About this Event
Join Mete Coban, Deputy Mayor of London, Kumi Naidoo, President of the Fossil Fuel Treaty, Caterina Sarfatti, Managing Director at C40 Cities, and Fiona Harvey, Environment Editor of The Guardian (Chair) for an urgent conversation on how we stand strong for climate action in the face of a renewed offensive from the oil and gas industry.
With global temperatures now breaching the 1.5°C limit set by the Paris Agreement, the window to avoid the worst impacts of climate collapse is closing fast, putting at risk everything we love. But around the world, cities, communities and campaigns are rising to the challenge, driving the shift to a safer, fairer future – and refusing to let fossil fuel interests derail that progress.
Hosted by the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and Impact Hub London as part of London Climate Action Week, this event is an opportunity to discuss bold plans, powerful alliances, and the growing global movement to phase out coal, oil and gas. We need to hold polluters to account and build a just, democratic transition that leaves no one behind. Together we’re building a lifeline.
The Fossfil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative, Impact Hub London & Stamp Out Poverty
The Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty Initiative is a global effort to foster international cooperation to accelerate a transition to renewable energy for everyone, end the expansion of coal, oil and gas, and equitably phase out existing production in keeping with what science shows is needed to address the climate crisis.
At Impact Hub London, we believe in activating change at every level to build a world that works for everyone. That’s why we offer more than just flexible workspaces. We’re a vibrant community designed for changemakers, focused on improving the health of our planet and humanity by accelerating entrepreneurial action.
Stamp Out Poverty campaigns for powerful, practical ideas. Ideas that will raise the money to end extreme poverty and fight climate change. Ideas that bring accountability to the industries behind these problems.
