Show Your Stripes Day 2025

This is not a physical event, but a global campaign

About this Event

Show Your Stripes Day is a global moment to share our concern about how the climate is changing and the need for urgent action.

We ask everyone to share the famous “warming stripes”, a powerful visual representation of how temperatures have increased around the world since the industrial revolution. Created by climate scientist Professor Ed Hawkins at the University of Reading, each stripe represents one year. The colours transition from cool blues to warm reds to represent the increases in temperature seen throughout the past 150 years or more.

On 21 June we call on individuals, businesses, and cities around the world to highlight their local climate stripes and share the powerful message they convey.

University of Reading

University of Reading is the Times/Sunday Times Sustainable University of the Year 2025. We are a world leading centre for climate change research and the famous 'climate stripes' developed here have been a powerful communication tool to inspire climate conversations and action around the world. Show Your Stripes is our annual campaign to ask people and organisations to share the stripes for their city or country to their networks and audiences. As part of LCAW, we ask all participants to consider using the stripes as part of the opening day. Note this registration is not for a physical or virtual event, it is for the campaign to invite people to engage and use the stripes. Other events that are already linking to Show Your Stripes Day are being registered separately.
