Shaping the UK Public Participation Strategy for Net Zero
Bourne & Hollingsworth Buildings, 42 Northampton Road, Clerkenwell, London. EC1R 0HU
About this Event
The question of what should be in the UK Government’s Public Participation Strategy for Net Zero has been extensively explored. What requires more attention is how it should be delivered.
This event will fill that gap. It aims to bring government officials together with some of the UK’s leading practitioners, community representatives, business leaders and academics. Together we will collectively reflect on the progress that has been made on involving people in climate action to-date, before workshopping central questions around the strategy’s delivery.
The event will include a series of panel discussions and smaller group workshops.
Climate Outreach and The Young Foundation
Climate Outreach is rewriting the climate story by placing people at the centre. For over 20 years, we’ve worked with charities to governments to business - to help navigate difficult climate conversations and unlock more ambitious climate action. Through original research, we explore diverse perspectives on climate change and help organisations communicate these insights to their audiences. Focusing on trust-building and engagement we make action feel familiar and empowering. Our Britain Talks Climate toolkit has influenced key players, showing the importance of public involvement in policy. We believe climate action requires a new narrative, turning challenges into stories of progress.
The Young Foundation support locally-led action, building knowledge around the issues people tell us they care about. We work collaboratively to improve lives and address shared challenges, driving social change for stronger communities and a fairer future. Our founder, the social researcher and innovator Michael Young, laid down The Young Foundation’s roots in 1954. We have a long and a proud history of community-led innovation, incubating more than 80 new organisations – including The Open University, The School for Social Entrepreneurs, Year Here, Social Innovation Exchange, and many others.
