The Accountability Accelerator, Porticus, and the Rainforest Foundation Norway invite you to join us for a high-impact workshop during London Climate Action Week focused on practical solutions to shape the future of mining in the energy transition. This session is a continuation of our workshop series bringing together community leaders, advocates, corporate actors, and investors.
As demand for transition minerals grows, so does the risk of repeating past harms—pollution, deforestation, biodiversity loss, displacement and conflicts, and marginalization of Indigenous Peoples and frontline communities. This workshop is not about rehashing challenges. It’s about recognising, reinforcing, and aligning around a benchmark for what good practice looks like, especially for mines that haven’t yet broken ground.
Session outcomes:
Ground-truthing: first-hand insights from communities, advocates, and industry voices;
Targeted discussions on practical safeguards: existing standards, accountability mechanisms, and no-go zones;
Clear connections between global frameworks and local realities, with a focus on traceability, transparency, and community-led red lines;
A focus on investor levers and downstream company action to drive responsible mining before harm is done.
This discussion will help shape a strong accountability framework that links mining’s role in the energy transition with the urgent need for universal ecological and cultural protections.
