London Climate Curriculum

About this Event
The free annual London Climate Curriculum is designed to help schools and home schooled students engage in London Climate Action Week (21-29 June 2025). These 6 free Lesson Plans are suitable for students in Key Stages 2 & 3 (ages 10-13). They vary each year and cover some of the main themes of London Climate Action Week of that year, including our big focus on how to fight extreme heat. #BeatTheHeat
We use London as a classroom for learning about climate change and taking practical action, and are proud to work with a range of London’s scientific, arts and culture organisations showcasing their relevant initiatives. This year we have teamed up with the world-famous Natural History Museum to profile their stunning new exhibition ‘Fixing our Broken Planet’. We also feature our annual ‘Write to your MP’ exercise, encouraging students to (hand) write letters to their local MP, in partnership with GLOBE Legislators. (An effort complementing GLOBE’s Student MP Climate Surgeries across London on Friday 27th June 2025.)
LCAW's Schools Climate Action initiative
The LCAW Schools Climate Action initiative emerged from our experience of working with schools and many partner networks and organisations at LCAW from 2019-20. From this emerged the agenda-setting LCAW Schools Climate Summit 2021, which sought to overcome piecemeal action and fragmentation, address structural issues for the education sector, and encourage a more systemic and strategic sectoral response to the climate crisis. Schools can help drive climate resilience and have a key sectoral role to play in helping London meet its ambitious climate targets by 2030, with impacts beyond the city. Hence our motto : Think like a System, Act like a Sector.
