LEED v5 Workshop: A Comprehensive Framework for Green Building Practices

ARUP, 8 Fitzroy Street, London W1T 4BJ, UK

About this Event

USGBC and GBCI Europe would like to offer a half-day workshop that dives into the principles and framework of the LEED v5 rating systems – Building Design and Construction (BD+C), Interiors Design and Construction (ID+C) , and Operations and Maintenance (O+M). Participants will learn how LEED v5 provides a comprehensive understanding of how buildings can contribute to critical environmental and social imperatives through the LEED v5 framework.

The LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) rating system is a standardized, globally recognized green building rating system developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC). It evaluates a building’s impact on the environment and provides a framework for designing, constructing, and operating sustainable buildings. The session will present the impact areas of the newest generation of the tool, LEED v5, launched in April of 2025. The focus areas covered are decarbonization, quality of life, and ecological conservation and restoration – and how they are aligned with LEED v5 credits to drive real-world change.

The overview workshop will review each credit category and discuss key prerequisites and credits. The session will also present the key changes from the previous version of LEED v4/v4.1 and the available tools and resources to support project teams. This is a beginner to intermediate level workshop and will be offered free of charge.

TRUE
TRUE zero waste certification promotes sustainable resource management and reduction practices to improve environmental, health, and economic outcomes.

WELL
WELL certification sets performance requirements in seven categories (air, water, nourishment, light, fitness, comfort and mind) to improve the effects of buildings on human health.

PEER
PEER certification promotes reliable, resilient, and sustainable power systems, enhancing tracking to prevent failures.

EDGE
EDGE certification for green buildings focuses on enhancing the resource efficiency of buildings by identifying cost-effective measures.
