About this Event
Join us during London Climate Action Week (LCAW) for an engaging session on “Investing in Resilience: Local Solutions & Innovative Finance in Fragile and Climate-Affected Contexts.”
Explore how local knowledge, de-risked capital, and enterprise-driven development can unlock transformative impact. We’ll examine cutting-edge models that strengthen resilience while driving inclusive, sustainable growth where it’s needed most.
Drawing from real-world examples, this roundtable brings together thought leaders, practitioners, and investors to explore how resilient food systems, climate-smart agriculture and agribusiness development, inclusive economic development, and innovative finance can converge to address the challenges facing communities in fragile and climate-affected regions. It will spotlight models that shift perceptions—from risk to opportunity—by integrating local knowledge, nature-based solutions, de-risked local investment, and enterprise-driven development with new sources of capital.
Participants will discuss how to:
• Enable communities to shift from subsistence to market-linked, sustainable livelihoods.
• Blend traditional and catalytic finance to unlock private investment in underserved and complex markets.
• Move beyond short-term grants to long-term, adaptive finance models.
• Finance climate adaptation through enterprise, not just aid.
• Design fit-for-purpose financial instruments for fragile markets.
• De-risk capital flows to fragile contexts through trust-based, embedded partnerships.
• Scale revolving and blended capital models that circulate locally and grow over time.
• Reframe “risk” through community-based lenses that integrate informal markets and local capacity
• Promote inclusive and localized investment ecosystems in fragile settings.
This conversation is essential for development actors, funders, governments, and investors seeking pathways to scale resilience, inclusion, and sustainability especially in fragile and complex contexts.

Near East Foundation (NEF) works with local partners to enable innovative, sustainable, and community-led economic and social development across the Middle East, Africa and the Caucasus to realise more prosperous, inclusive and resilient communities. We support marginalised people and communities in cultivating new skills and accessing resources, networks, and opportunities to shape a future where they can overcome vulnerability to poverty, economic and social inequity, conflict, climate change, and environmental degradation.
