Invasive Species & Business: Fauna & Flora, IUCN & TNFD Workshop Series Kick-off

Online Event

About this Event

This interactive webinar kicks off a new series of workshops designed to raise awareness and accelerate business action on invasive alien species (IAS). You’ll hear from experts at IUCN, Fauna & Flora, TNFD and business about why IAS matter for both biodiversity and business – and how you can get involved in the IAS Collaborative Initiative.

This first session is also a chance to help shape TNFD’s draft indicators for IAS and to contribute to building a strong business case for action. Future workshops will dive deeper into sector-specific challenges and opportunities, and into opportunities to collaborate.

Why Attend?

IAS are one of the top five drivers of biodiversity loss and have serious implications for business – impacting everything from water availability, food security, human health and climate resilience.
Businesses can play a critical role in preventing and managing their spread; and tackling IAS requires collaborative, landscape-level approaches. The IAS Collaborative Initiative brings together companies, governments, IPLCs and others to share knowledge, scale best practices, and deliver positive outcomes for nature, climate and people.

What to Expect:

-Learn about why invasive species are something business should be thinking about – how they impact operations, supply chains, and the landscapes businesses depend on, and how business activities can unintentionally contribute to their spread
-Get an introduction to TNFD’s draft IAS indicators and how they are being shaped.
-Have a chance to share your feedback on TNFD’s current thinking and see how you might get involved going forward.
-Hear from peers and exchange ideas on what’s working (and what’s not)
-Updates on the IAS Collaborative Initiative’s plans for the year.
