How food system businesses can deliver co-benefits for climate and health: practical guidance for individual and collective action
Wellcome Trust 215 Euston Road London NW1 2BE
About this Event
We can’t have healthy food without a healthy planet.
Our climate, food, and health systems are deeply interconnected. For businesses across the food and agriculture sector, this creates both a responsibility and an opportunity: to embed health outcomes into climate strategies and sustainability plans that are good for people and planet. Recognising this untapped potential, Forum for the Future convened the Climate and Health Coalition – a multi-stakeholder initiative mobilising private sector leadership at the intersection of climate and health.
Forum for the Future invites you to join an inspirational and interactive discussion bringing together business change-makers across the food and beverage sector.
The event will share and build on the practical guidance and case studies from the climate and health toolkit for food businesses that the Coalition launched in 2024.
You will hear how food system businesses are taking meaningful steps to address climate-related health risks and invest in health opportunities through mitigation, adaptation, and community engagement. In particular, we will hear from leaders in grocery retail, food service, food packaging and the investor community. And we’ll work together in breakout groups to explore ways we can collaborate to accelerate change on these interconnected issues.
You’ll gain insights into what action looks like in practice, how to align it with your commercial objectives, how to collaborate within the food system for greater impact, as well as speak with others already tapping into this opportunity.

Climate and Health Coalition, Forum for the Future
ABOUT CLIMATE AND HEALTH COALITION
The Climate and Health Coalition is a multi-stakeholder collaboration founded in 2020 by Forum for the Future and formalized in 2021 with leading healthcare businesses Haleon, Bupa, Reckitt, and Walgreens Boots Alliance. In 2023, the Coalition was joined by Bristol Myers Squibb, and Bayer, and in 2024 - by Kenvue and Johnson & Johnson. The Coalition is also supported by over 15 non-private sector organisations active in the climate and health ecosystem. The purpose of the Coalition is to mobilise and equip the private sector to accelerate the integrated transformation of our health and climate systems, towards outcomes that deliver benefits for both people and planet. In 2024, the Coalition expanded to include a Food Cluster, founded by leading partners Britvic, SIG and Waitrose, to enable additional private sector players to further drive co-benefits for the connected systems of climate, health, food and agriculture. Early in 2025, Trane Technologies became a member of the Coalition, allowing an expanded focus on the built environment.
ABOUT FORUM FOR THE FUTURE
Forum for the Future is a leading international sustainability non-profit. For more than 25 years we’ve been working in partnership with business, governments and civil society to accelerate the shift towards a just and regenerative future in which both people and the planet thrive. As our environmental, social and economic crises intensify, the world is rapidly changing, with multiple transitions already reshaping how we all live and work. But will we go far enough, and fast enough? Forum is focused on enabling deep transformation in three game-changing areas: how we think about, produce, consume and value both food and energy, and the role of business in society and the economy.
