About this Event

Meet the Design Museum’s Design Researchers in Residence for a tour of Solar, a display of their design research responding to the climate emergency.

Join ‘Design Researchers in Residence’ April Barrett, Eliza Collin, Jamie Gatty Irving and Freya Spencer-Wood, and Future Observatory curator George Kafka for a tour of Solar.

Solar brings together the work of the four researchers completed during their eight-month residencies at the Design Museum. The projects featured in the display explore our changing relationships with the heat and light of the sun through multidisciplinary and collaborative works touching on the heat of the internet, the changing scents of plants, the architecture of the conservatory and the contested restoration of Scotland’s peat lands.

Design Researchers in Residence is Future Observatory’s programme for emerging design researchers hosted at the Design Museum. Future Observatory is the Design Museum’s national research programme for the green transition. It is coordinated by the museum in partnership with the Arts and Humanities Research Council.
