Grow Together: Building a Community Garden
LCAW Food Hub 18 Wine Office Ct London EC4A 3JR
About this Event
Join us for a vibrant, hands-on cooking session led by Brazilian chef Esther Weyl, featuring surplus produce and sustainably sourced ingredients from Brazil. Together, we’ll prepare a dish inspired by the rich culinary heritage of Belém do Pará — the COP30 host city and one of Brazil’s most diverse and celebrated food cultures.
Rooted in the principles of community care, sustainability, and food justice, this workshop invites participants to explore how cooking can become a powerful act of resistance and connection. As we prepare and share food together, we’ll reflect on the stories behind the ingredients, the value of traditional knowledge, and the role of solidarity in shaping more just and resilient food systems — from the Amazon to London.
This cooking workshop is part of a broader programme organised by the Embassy of Brazil in London during London Climate Action Week, focused on sustainability and food security in the lead-up to COP30. The programme highlights the spirit of mutirão — a Brazilian tradition of collective action and mutual support — bringing together communities, knowledge, and practical skills to build more just and resilient food systems.
