Green Energy Transition in Asia: Aligning Finance, Policy and Equity
Senate House Alumni Lecture Theatre (SALT) SOAS, University of London 10 Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG
About this Event
Asia accounts for over half of global greenhouse gas emissions, and the pace of its energy transition will make or break global climate targets. Yet the region’s pathways are fragmented – shaped by contrasting development stages, capital constraints, energy security imperatives, and political economy dynamics. While China, ASEAN, South Asia, and Central Asia all face unique challenges, they also hold transformational potential through scaled green finance, regulatory innovation, and regional cooperation.
This panel brings together leading thinkers and practitioners on green finance, sustainable infrastructure, and energy transition from across Asia to unpack the political, financial, and institutional shifts needed for an inclusive green transition. The discussion will interrogate current trends, assess strategic interventions, and propose mechanisms for aligning capital flows, institutional reforms, and climate justice.
