Royal Geographical Society, 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR
About this Event
The FCDO-funded Climate Compatible Growth programme is organising a Round Table Consultation Meeting at London Climate Action Week entitled From Planning to Finance: Unlocking Investments for Energy Transition in partnership with the UK’s Department of Energy Security and Net Zero. The event will take place on Monday June 23rd 2025 from 13:30-17:30. Please register your interest to receive an invitation.
Countries around the world are developing multi-billion-pound investment plans for the energy transition. Planning efforts typically focus on technical considerations, with financing coming as an afterthought. The recently launched Global Coalition for Energy Planning has underscored the need for energy planning efforts to be more closely aligned with downstream capital mobilization and associated policy bottlenecks. The UK’s Global Clean Power Alliance – Finance Mission aims to work with interested countries to support such alignment. Drawing on the Data-to-Deal framework – which has successfully supported the mobilization of finance for climate transition in several LMICs – this consultation event will bring together policy makers, financiers, and international organizations to distill the elements of emerging best practice in the build-up to COP30.
