Across Africa, affordable clean energy can supercharge progress towards climate and development goals. 600 million people on the continent go without access to electricity, which harms their ability to earn, study, and stay safe and healthy.
Grid expansion alone will not reach these communities. Off-grid solutions, tailored to local needs, will be critical to achieving the world’s development and climate goals by 2030, by giving people access to clean water, modern lighting, internet access, efficient cookstoves, electric vehicles, and other essential products and services.
Entrepreneurs across Africa are delivering these solutions. But many can’t secure the finance needed to scale up: patient capital, delivered on the right terms and in the right amounts.
At our networking and panel event you will meet innovators and investors, discover their impact, and learn how smarter finance can accelerate the growth of their organisations. We will showcase pioneers innovating in critical areas of the energy access ecosystem – from training and local manufacturing to end-user finance. And a short panel discussion will address the finance challenges facing inclusive energy access solutions.
Speakers and panellists include:
Agnes Dasewicz – Chief Investment Officer, GEAPP
Sandra Chukwudozie – CEO, Salpha Energy
Claire Bakhita – Projects & Development Manager, GoGo Electric
Jodie Wu – CEO, OffGridBox
Buradum Geteh – CEO, Burasolutions
Lisa Marie – Policy & Partnerships Lead, Mobility for Africa
Douglas Greenwell – Commercial Director, Carbon, BURN Manufacturing

Ashden's mission is to accelerate transformative climate solutions and build a more just world.
Our awards, events, networks and analysis support outstanding climate innovation. We boost the pioneers delivering a zero carbon future – and creating new jobs, better health, and stronger communities along the way.
Our work switches on clean energy for rural villages and refugee camps. It tackles fuel poverty, by making homes warm and energy-efficient. It powers green jobs, and zero-carbon schools. It defends and restores nature. And it supports local climate action, so everyone can shape – and benefit from – the journey to a fair and sustainable tomorrow.
