Faith Leadership for Our Common Home: Laudato Si’ and the Global Movement for Fossil Free Finance
FCJ Centre for Spirituality and EcoJustice, 32 Phoenix Road, London, NW1 1TA
About this Event
Laudato Si’ Movement, JustMoney Movement and Stand.Earth invite you to an exciting London Climate Action Week event at the FCJ Centre for Spirituality and EcoJustice.
Faith institutions around the world have long been at the forefront on ethical investment, including through fossil fuel divestment and challenging major banks on their fossil fuel financing. There is, however, much further to go.
This week, the Banking on Climate Chaos 2025 report showed that the world’s 65 biggest banks have committed $7.9 trillion to the fossil fuel industry in the last nine years. Several major UK high street banks, including Barclays and HSBC, increased their fossil fuel financing in 2024, the hottest year ever recorded.
We are delighted to welcome the following speakers:
- Sr Susan Francois CSJP, Assistant Congregation Leader and Treasurer at the Sisters of St Joseph of Peace
- Dr Lorna Gold, Executive Director of Laudato Si’ Movement
- Martyna Dominiak, Senior Climate Finance Campaigner at Stand.Earth
- Matt Ceaser, Movement Builder at JustMoney Movement
- Bokani Tshidzu, Campaign Officer at Operation Noah
- Susie Weldon, Director of Communications at FaithInvest
- James Buchanan, Climate Finance Campaign Manager at Laudato Si’ Movement
Come along to find out more about the issues and hear from leaders about the various ways in which faith organisations are taking action with their investments in response to the climate crisis.
Cheese, biscuits and soft drinks will be served after the event. If you would like to bring a bottle to share, please do!
Please register early to guarantee your place (as spaces are limited), using this Google Form. We look forward to seeing you there!
