Not For Sale Gallery 83 Smeed Rd, Bow, London, England, United Kingdom E3 2NR
About this Event
“Step into a world where humans, technology, and nature intertwine!”
Join Curator Zoë Goetzmann (@byzoesera) and London-based women artists Elina Yumasheva and Elen Alien, as we walk you through our current month-long exhibition, ‘Breath, Matter, Code’ at Not For Sale Gallery – a mediation on the future of art, sustainability, climate change awareness and “broader ecological and technological systems.”
Not For Sale Gallery presents ‘Breath, Matter, Code’ – a duo exhibition featuring new works by Elina Yumasheva (@elinayum_art) and Elen Alien (@elen_alien), exploring the dissolution of boundaries between human, technological, and non-human forms. Through their distinct practices, the artists delve into themes of ‘continuous becoming’ emotional landscapes, and the interconnectedness of all entities.
Through paintings, expanded media works, and material interventions, London-based women artists Elen Alien and Yumasheva create spaces where lived experiences, emotions, and psychological states intermingle with broader ecological and technological systems. ‘Breath, Matter, Code’ resists narratives of collapse or separation; instead, it offers composting — a patient, ongoing transformation where new arrangements of matter, presence, and meaning quietly emerge.
Not For Sale Gallery
About Not For Sale Gallery: Not For Sale Gallery, located at 83 Smeed Road in Hackney Wick, London, is a contemporary art space that challenges the commercialization of art by prioritizing artistic expression over sales. Operating as a showcase rather than a traditional commercial gallery, Not for Sale empowers artists to present works that may be available for sale, on loan, or explicitly not for sale, fostering a dialogue about the over-commodification of art.
The gallery features advanced projection mapping, sound, and video capabilities, along with facilities for producing custom editions in digital, video, sound, and NFT formats. It also offers A0+ giclée printing services, encouraging artists to create limited edition prints to engage collectors at various stages. Embracing a "Pay What You Feel" model, artists may choose to contribute towards the gallery's running costs upon the sale of their work, supporting future exhibitions.
Not For Sale Gallery invites visitors to experience art that transcends market dynamics, emphasising authenticity, and creative freedom.
