About this Event

The Climate Innovation Forum returns for the 6th year as a Flagship Event of London Climate Action Week on Thursday 27 June in London’s Guildhall. The Climate Innovation Forum will include a series of roundtables running concurrently with the main agenda. Hosted by our partners, these facilitated, 60-minute, deep-dive discussions will explore specific challenges and opportunities of delivering a net zero, just and sustainable world.

Decarbonising the built environment: Procurement commitments for low emission steel and cement roundtable hosted by UN Climate Change High-Level Champions

Building sector emissions contributed to about one-third of the total energy system emissions in 2022, which included emissions from building operations (26%) and embodied emissions (7%) from building construction materials such as steel and concrete (Breakthrough Agenda Report, 2023). This roundtable aims to accelerate the commitment of the construction industry and real estate businesses to build near zero-emission and resilient buildings. It will bring together business leaders to discuss practical ways to create market demand for near zero-emission and resilient buildings. It will showcase real-world examples and facilitate dialogue between suppliers of low-emission cement and steel and real estate developers.
