Climate and energy strategy discussion

About this Event

This invite-only discussion will be strategic and forward-looking, aimed at identifying the best way for Ditchley to help embed the strategy and tactics of climate action in today’s geopolitical reality. The present is defined by rapid acceleration on multiple fronts: surging demand for secure and clean energy, shifting geopolitical alignments, rapid technological innovation, and fundamental changes to the norms that underpin international trade. Development, energy security, climate action and governance are increasingly seen by major powers as arenas of competition, rather than as areas of shared global interest.

How best can we ensure that those with the power to act are best aware of the dangers – economic and political, as well as global – in relegating the priority placed on climate action? How can we best explore and communicate the advantages and opportunities that sharp climate and energy security policy could have across the various priorities those individuals need to balance? And how can we weave these considerations into Ditchley’s programme as a whole, beyond our convenings that explicitly focus on climate and energy security?

Invite only, registration closed.

The Ditchley Foundation

Since 1962, Ditchley, which is not tied to the agenda of any government, political party or commercial interest, has been bringing people together to support and sustain frank conversations addressing complex challenges that, as a rule, do not have simple solutions. Our aim is to help sustain peace, freedom and justice, working towards the renewal of democratic societies, states and alliances.

We strive to generate productive discussions that challenge preconceptions by ensuring a rich mix of expertise and viewpoints, bridging across divides and creating conditions for empathy, connection and real-world impact. Our primary route to impact is through people, engaging the individuals and organisations with direct influence over outcomes. As part of this, we aim to find and include outstanding talent from all quarters. No one leaves a Ditchley discussion without thinking new things or making new connections.
