ClientEarth Breakfast Briefing: Corporate Transition Planning – Taking Stock of the Legal Landscape
The Inner Temple, Crown Office Row, London, EC4Y 7HL - Entrance via Tudor Street.
About this Event
Join ClientEarth and a panel of experts for an energising morning discussion during London Climate Action Week.
The panelists will take stock of the legal landscape around corporate transition planning and launch a newly commissioned legal opinion. With leading companies already moving to adopt transition plans, this breakfast briefing will offer clear, actionable insights to help decision-makers and policymakers move forward with confidence.
As the UK moves close to legislating mandatory transition planning for listed and large private companies, we near a big moment – one that will shape the future not just for climate action, but for corporate resilience and accountability.
The relationship between transition plan disclosure and legal risk is poorly understood – and if left unaddressed could undermine progress. So, where are we with UK transition plan requirements? Do concerns about liability stand up to scrutiny? And what are the broader benefits of transition plan disclosure, both in terms of legal risk and beyond?
The panel of leading legal business and policy voices will cut through the noise.
The event will also mark the official launch of a newly commissioned legal opinion that offers clarity on the legal position and a grounded perspective on what transition planning really means for corporate risk. It aims to inform guide government policy and corporate practice on transition plans and ensure that apprehension doesn’t get in the way of action.
This is an in-person event at the Inner Temple in London. If you are unable to attend in person and would like to join remotely, please do not register for the in-person event. Instead, please email events@clientearth.org to request a Zoom link. Thank you!
