Charting Progress: The State of Sustainable Shipping and the Road Ahead
Online event
About this Event
This London Climate Action Week webinar brings together leaders from across the maritime, climate, and philanthropy worlds to explore how the sector is progressing on environmental and social goals — and what it will take to go further, faster.
We’ll introduce the State of Sustainable Shipping (SoSS): a new reference point and shared tool designed to help track progress, build alignment, and accelerate credible action. Alongside this, we’ll share how the recently developed Roadmap for Ocean Health is already shaping voluntary action across the sector.
Expect a fast-paced and practical conversation covering:
– The evolving sustainability landscape in shipping
– How SoSS and the Roadmap will drive transparency and progress
– Perspectives from funders, industry leaders and delivery partners
– The role of shared data, standards and voluntary measures
Joining us to provide their insights and context as funders in the space are:
– Ruth Boumphrey, CEO of Lloyd’s Register Foundation
– Adam Billing, Senior Adviser at VELUX FONDEN
– Andrew Stephens (FCMA), CEO of SSI
– Guy Campbell, Chair of SSI
Whether you’re shaping ESG strategy, funding ocean-climate impact, or working in maritime operations, this session offers insight, connection and a look ahead.
The Sustainable Shipping Initiative
The Sustainable Shipping Initiative (SSI) is a multi-stakeholder coalition of leading organisations from across the maritime ecosystem, working together to drive progress toward a sustainable, equitable, and resilient shipping sector.
Founded in 2010, SSI convenes industry leaders, NGOs, and experts to co-develop tools, frameworks, and collaborative programmes that help align shipping with global climate, ocean, and development goals.
From influencing voluntary standards to shaping global conversations, SSI plays a catalytic role in charting a credible pathway for transformation — grounded in transparency, shared accountability, and systems thinking.
Recent initiatives include the Roadmap for Ocean Health, and the upcoming State of Sustainable Shipping (SoSS) platform — designed to track progress and unlock shared action.
