Building Community Climate Resilience Through Impactful Partnerships

Communities everywhere are feeling the shocks of extreme heat, floods, and storms and these shocks not only have a devastating impact on the communities themselves but also have a direct impact on the stability of company value chains. Yet proven, community-designed adaptation projects already exist—and are ready to scale.
This event, co-hosted by BSR and the Z Zurich Foundation will convene BSR member companies and representatives from respective company foundations and other philanthropies to explore the potential to scale high-impact climate adaptation projects and practices. This will leverage the Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance’s (The Alliance) longstanding work on building impactful and replicable climate resilience interventions worldwide. The Alliance works closely with communities to understand the components of resilience most relevant to them, and co-creates solutions along with NGOs, academic partners, and community-based organizations. These solutions take a systemic approach that is rooted in the unique needs of each individual community. During the event, BSR, the Foundation and the Alliance will present case studies of impactful projects that could be delivered now, and participants will hear from experts at the forefront of climate adaptation solutions and have an opportunity to engage with each other. The convening will then explore the interest of other organisations to invest in planned solutions as well as looking at potential for investment in replicability and scale up of climate adaptation interventions to increase resilience across global value chains.
