Better Buildings: Action-driven solutions for decarbonisation

Buro Happold The Featherstone Building, 66 City Road, London, EC1Y 2AL

About this Event

With the buildings and construction sector responsible for approximately 40% of energy and process-related CO2 emissions, its role in achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement is critical. This year especially marks a pivotal moment, as countries submit their updated NDCs in the lead up to COP30. It is essential that these updates drive accelerated progress and close the gap to limiting warming to 1.5ºC.

In this session, we aim to capture the transformative actions taken by industry and governments that are shaping a resilient and decarbonised built environment. We will highlight best practice and global examples, including from countries like the UK that have already submitted their NDCs, evaluating their specific ambitions to reduce emissions from the built environment. The discussion will also feature industry leaders sharing how they are advancing the transition through their asset portfolios.

Echoing Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago’s key focus for COP30, we must prioritise real-world implementation. The panel will delve into the transformative measures underway and the additional actions needed to achieve the goals of the Paris Agreement and unlock the full potential of the sector.

Climate Group, World Green Building Council and Buro Happold

Climate Group
For more than two decades, Climate Group has been driving climate action. Fast. Our goal is a world of net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with greater prosperity for all. We focus on systems with the highest emissions and where our networks have the greatest opportunity to drive change. We have built coalitions of over 600 ambitious companies through initiatives focused on energy, transport, and the decarbonisation of heavy industry (steel and concrete). We hold our members to account, turning commitments into action. We are the organisers of Climate Week NYC and are the secretariat of the Under2 Coalition, the largest global network of states, regions, provinces and other subnational governments committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2050. We are an international non-profit organisation with offices in London, Amsterdam, Beijing, New Delhi and New York. We are proud to be part of the We Mean Business coalition.
