Amazon Alive: Communities Ending Deforestation
Kindred Bradmore House Queen Caroline St London W6 9BW
About this Event
How do we secure the future of the Amazon and its peoples? Indigenous Peoples and local communities have safeguarded the Amazon for generations. Their leadership is crucial not just for halting deforestation but for climate stability, biodiversity and justice.
This roundtable will amplify the voices of those already driving transformative conservation rooted in ancestral knowledge, cultural resilience and territorial governance. We will explore the systemic barriers, the solutions, and the urgent need for equitable partnerships that shift power and resources to the frontlines.
Leading scientists and practitioners will share the latest evidence. We’ll examine how unsustainable consumption – particularly in the Global North – is fuelling forest loss, and how transforming food systems and supply chains can support thriving ecosystems and communities.
The session concludes with a collective call to action for ‘The Forest COP’ – COP30 – urging world leaders to end deforestation by 2030 through rights-based policies that restore ecosystems and ensure climate justice.
This roundtable is part of Nature Day, a day-long series of events at Kindred bringing nature and biodiversity to the heart of London Climate Action Week, presented by WWF and Project Everyone.
WWF in collaboration with WRI.
The World Wildlife Fund (WWF) is the world’s leading conservation organisation. WWF works to help local communities conserve the natural resources they depend upon; transform markets and policies toward sustainability; and protect and restore species and their habitats: efforts that ensure that the value of nature is reflected in decision-making from a local to a global scale.
The World Resources Institute (WRI) is a global research organisation working to improve people's lives, protect nature and halt climate change.
Project Everyone seeks to put the power of great communication behind the global goals.
